Shake ‘N’ Bake has been saying it for days but I mistook her Babyish for “Dad”. She’s got “Dada” down pretty well and so whenever I heard “Dat” I would shake my head and tell her, “Dada’s at work. I’m Mama.”
Today she sat on the floor shaking her little musical TV remote up and down repeating, “Dat! Dat! Dat!” and it dawned on me that it wasn’t “Dad” but “dance”. Whenever music plays, Mr. H and I will clap and say, “Dance! Dance! Dance!” but it seems she’s associated the word with, “Play me some music, Woman!”
Something you may or may not have known about me: I was once a synchronized swimmer.
It was the year 1992, and I was fourteen years old. We had recently moved back to Phoenix, Arizona after about five years in Oregon and my sister and I had transferred to the Arizona Aqua Stars from the Tualatin Hills Synchro Club.
After hours of tinkering around with my computer and some DVDs that my father gave me, I now have my very first YouTube video to prove it.
BEHOLD! Me, in all my gangling, awkward, teenaged glory. I’m the really pale one in the duet and in case you still have trouble picking me out, my father was nice enough to put my name briefly over my person just before the routine started. Also, if you recognized the last song in the performance, but couldn’t remember where it came from, hereyago.
And you can laugh all you want, but those skillz got me through the swim portion of boot camp with ease.
Our AC isn’t working correctly and the unpleasant temperature in our apartment is causing the old beast to overheat. Poor thing. I had to install an extra fan.
Yes, that’s clear packing tape holding a webcam to my monitor. It’s not pretty, but it works.
Okay, I’m playing with a bunch of new WordPress plugins I just downloaded and I needed a picture. The turkey happened to be outside my window at the time.
Ah! I did find a really good plugin to share. If you like fun buttons that do things (and I know I do) then download TinyMCE Advanced. It allows you to drag and drop buttons into your WP WYSIWYG (that’s the “Write Post” section, dearies) editor.
(Update!) I thought I’d add an update here instead of starting a whole new post. Yay me.
Well I ran four miles tonight. Again. But it’s still taking me almost an hour to do that so I’m kind of miffed with myself. My best run time was mediocre (I had a 26:21 3 mile) and that was about two years ago. I’m also not sure how far I should trust the gages on the treadmill as they are notoriously inaccurate. What I should really be doing is looking up a route to run on Google Maps and hitting the road but the idea of running in public still has me feeling a bit embarrassed.
Aside from a small stack of Pringles and a glass of OJ, I completely forgot to eat today. I do that sometimes. Anyhoo, I’m glad I did forget because Husband surprised me with a dinner out to Carlos O’Kelly’s after my run.
I believe I just undid every bit of those four miles. And then some. We’ll see what kind of damage I did at my weigh-in on Sunday.
