I’ve been taking this kind of slow since I’ve gone completely wimpy over the past year and a half or so, but there has been progress. Not a lot of progress, but a noticeable difference in the max number of pushups I can do. I took the End Of Week 2 test and managed to pull off 17, but it wasn’t easy. That puts me in column one for week three and I can tell already that it’s going to be a total ass-kicker.
To supplement my pushup program I’m also working with Mr. H’s weight set. The man had 60 lbs on it and I had to remove 40 just so I could do curls without tearing my elbow joints out of alignment. (Originally I had typed “tearing my elbows out of their sockets” but elbows don’t have sockets N’ER!) Unfortunately for me, elbow pain seems to come along with any upper body strength training program I take up no matter how easy I take it on myself.
P.S. Yes, I’m doing boy pushups. Nyeesh.

You can and will do it! Failure is not an option! Good luck…gotta go to the store now and pick up my personal fitness food. A six pack of Corona Beer (for hydration purposes), some limes (for vitamin C and for the beer), and a gallon of Cookie Dough Ice Cream (my reward for getting up off my ass and going to the store).
Now, do more push-ups and run 5 miles in the afternoon sun, while wearing a winter coat!

OMG! I’m doing wall push-ups…OK…modified wall push-ups, somewhere between the wall and the countertop. Countertop push-ups are harder than wall push-ups. Anyway, I’m on Week III and I’m dreading tomorrow. I’m on Column II, I’ve had my day off (day of rest) and I’m not looking forward to Day II of Week III, Column II. Day I of Week III, Column II…almost killed me. I know I’ll feel so great if I can just get through tomorrow… and I won’t think about Day III of Week III until….this is getting so confusing.

I did it! I survived Day 2. I won’t worry about Day 3 until it hits me over the head.

OK…so, I expanded on the 100 push-up challenge and decided to incorporate the same system with crunches and squats. Day I, Week I….the sit-ups weren’t too bad. The squats? My legs feel totally spastic and useless. I almost fell down the stairs. However, tomorrow I’ll do Day 3 of Week III for the push-ups and hopefully…my leg muscles will become reliable enough for me to continue with this new regime.

I decided to do the 100 pushups, too… and so far, so good. My initial test was only 30, and the first week saw my max reps at the end of each day increase.
Week two saw me stay the same, though I did hit 42 on my “test” at the end of the week.
Just did the first day of week 3. Mother. Of. Gott. You’re supposed to hit 25 for your max at the end of the workout… I managed to hit 30, but I’m still shaking. And that was nearly ten minutes ago.
My main problem isn’t so much the arm or chest strength, though that does play into it. No, with me, it’s core strength. By the time I’m done, Jello could be considered more stable than me.
I think I’m off to try JG’s fitness diet…

Yeah, week three is kicking my ass. I think I’m going to repeat it.

hmm. i think i might give this a try. i have always maxed out my push-ups on my PT test, but there is NO WAY i could do 100 right now and to be honest, not all i do on my test (i think i need like 50-53?) are perfect.

I’m trying SO HARD to do them correctly. That’s why I think I’ll repeat week 3. It’s easy to get all the way down (elbows bent to at least 90 degrees); it’s the mechanism in my arms that allows me to get back up again that seems to be broken. I’m so tempted to switch to girly push-ups because I know that I’ll be able to do twice as many but that feels like cheating.
If only my ass didn’t weigh so much…
Oh, and when I told fraNk I was tackling this challenge he looked at me funny and said something to the effect of, “You can’t be serious… Do you know how tough that is even for a male? I’m one of the very few in my unit who has ever reached the century mark.”
Braggart.
Besides, the challenge doesn’t say anything about a time limit. Just that they had to be 100 consecutive push-ups.
