Pirates of the Burning Sea

STILL ON BACKORDER!  Okay, I got my pre-boarding party key, but it does me no good because I received it on the 22nd (full game launch day).  Now I have to wait until the full game comes in the mail before I can play.

As soon as I saw that the game was backordered I called up all the stores in the area, and wouldn’t you know it?  They’re all sold out.  Dagnabbit.  You know, if you pre-order something, I’d think you should receive it on the launch date, not one to two weeks afterward…

*facepalm*

All right, tonight I’ll be damned if I don’t go to bed at a reasonable hour.

By this afternoon I was so groggy that when I put Shake’N'Bake down for her daily nap, I said to heck with cleaning and ended up falling asleep for three hours. I then had some of the strangest during-the-day dreams. It was that kind of sleep where you wake up and swear it’s morning the next day and you’re late for something.

I confess, though, it wasn’t as bad as that one time where I fell asleep, woke up at 7:00 am, and the horror that comes with realizing you’re late for work descended upon me. ZING! I was out of bed and into my cammies–the ass chewings I was sure to receive personified themselves as a tiny caricature of Master Gunz dancing round and round my head. I had my left boot half way tied before I took one more look at the clock and noted the little dot indicating it was 7:03 pm.

It was then that I seriously considered switching the alarm clock on my nightstand to military time.

Perhaps it’s where I live

We don’t have a decent new rock radio station here. Is it for that reason that I haven’t heard anything new from Fair to Midland? Song, if you have no idea who I’m talking about.

*cry*

Tonight I made lasagna with garlic bread toasted in the oven.

For those of you who do not know, the garlic bread is the best and most essential part of this meal.

As I sat at my computer and went to take a bite of delicious hot crispy-on-the-outside soft-on-the-inside garlic bread, I missed and dropped the slice to the floor where it bounced under my desk. And here is where I made a grisly discovery:

There are cobwebs under my desk.

Cobwebs render the five second rule completely null and void, thus making the previously wonderful garlic bread completely inedible!!!

Now, not only am I sad but I am sad AND I have a nagging desire to dust.

P.S. I may or may not have consumed half a bottle of champagne left over from New Year’s Eve and may or may not be slightly overreacting.

R.I.P. Garlic Bread :(

Oh God, the STRESS

Credit reports. New computers and technology. Financial issues. Quitting smoking (still! WARGH!) Life in general.

I’m ready to pull my hair out. Or burst out of my skin. Or both.

I think I’ll give my mother a call. Poor Mom.

Update:  Oh noes!  They’re still in Vegas.

What a crock of bullshit

I posted this as a comment on my mother’s blog, but I thought it deserved a spot here as well.

That killed me when I heard the news about Bhutto’s assassination yesterday. I’m still upset about it. I haven’t been following the politics in Pakistan, but whenever I caught a story about her on the news I did a silent little cheer for her for being so brave. A female leader in such a male dominant society is a strong strong woman. Her death is a tragedy for women everywhere.

It’s this sort of thing that gets my femmy little heart all a pounding and was one of the many driving forces behind my decision to join the USMC. I may be a petite little SAHM with a bum hip, but gosh darn it! why should I let that stop me? Why should any woman? If duly motivated we can push ourselves to achieve almost anything. Hell, we can pee standing up with the proper equipment.

Like I posted on Old Grey’s blog, I would do a little mental cheer every time a story about Pakistan’s prime minister came on to the news. That chick had bigger cojones than most men–certainly she had more guts than the coward who took her life and then blew himself up in the name of his god.

We’d be lucky to have a female leader with her drive here in the US.

Well, as long as her name isn’t Hillary.  *cough*

On being robbed…
