When it comes to the housing market, Husband and I have been biding our time. When we first moved back here a little over a year ago, we had planned on purchasing a house right away. That didn’t happen as things just didn’t seem right; it wasn’t the time. I’ve been keeping a close eye on the real estate in our area in the mean time, and now I’m really freaking glad we waited.
Interest rates are at an all time low in addition to lowering property values. Hell, in the past month alone I’ve seen a HUGE drop in prices for homes in the area we’re looking at moving to. *rubs hands together with glee*
Currently, we’re planning on looking a bit more seriously for a new place to live in September.
Humph. Now, watch while I get spammed by a bunch of Gretna Realtors.
AAH! These are so cool. Thanks to Davey for the link.
And while I was there I found and developed an impish desire to get one of these little guys. As of yet I don’t know where or when I would use it but I’m sure that, given enough time, I could come up with something sufficiently devious.
I’m a big fan of finding new and delicious recipes on the internet and so whenever I can find a good recipe blog I get all excited and bookmark it so I can go back to it again and again.
Today I visited Anne’s place. Love it! I particularly like her Veggie Wednesday entries as I’m always interested in vegetarian dishes. I’m not a vegetarian, but I think vegetables deserve more than steam and butter. I also think there is more to life and dinner than an enormous slab of meat. Don’t read too far into that. Steak has its place, but I’m terribly finicky when it comes to the kind of beef I get and I’m not fond of overly large, fatty, or generally poor quality cuts. I didn’t even like red meat and often refused to eat it until I moved to Nebraska, so that should tell you something right there…
But I digress; I wasn’t talking about my picky eating habits, I was talking about the spiffy new blog I found. So far I’ve loved all of Anne’s recipes and can’t wait to try several of them out. Especially one from one of her latest posts for Veggie Wednesday: Lasagna Rolls on Sauce Béchamel.
I’ll let you know how it turns out as soon as I make it.
Oh, and I’ve blogrolled Anne. Hope she doesn’t mind.
I suppose it’s safe to say, now, that Husband has a new job!
He’s going to be an 88M instructor starting Monday.
Full Army Playtime. (As opposed to monthly.) No airborne school for him, though. He squeaked by that one by the skin of his teeth. I still would have gone for him.
But I digress.
Hurray! *beer@everyone*
I had a vague idea of how to make this so I just threw together a bunch of ingredients that sounded good together. Turned out great!
Recipe behind the cut.
“You stay put, hon. It’s Saturday.” As the husband rolls out of bed to take care of a hungry baby at 6:30 am.
Other awesome gifts include:
“I put my dishes in the dishwasher!”
and
“I took out the trash.”
and especially
“I’ll give MiMao Stink-Cat a bath.”
Mr Husband put his Staff Sergeant hat on and left early this morning to go to his monthly Mary Kay meeting Tupperware Party Army National Guard Drill, so once again I’m left holding the baby. Not that I’m complaining. It’s not a bad gig, really. I find plenty of things to keep me busy and not all of them involve spending money, thank you. Plus he needs time to escape and play with the other boys in the neighborhood from time to time. Seriously, they’re playing dodgeball this month for PT. o.O’
One of those things that keeps me busy is cooking, so I figured I would put together a batch of blueberry muffins. I preheated the oven and dumped the mix into the mixing bowl (Yes, it’s from a box. No, I’m not going to make them from scratch. I’m a decent chef and a good housewife but when it comes to muffins, Martha Stewart I am not.), and retrieved the milk from the refrigerator. Hmm… milk doesn’t feel so cold, I thought. I pour it into the measuring cup and it comes out in chunks. Oh goody! Cheese! Fridge is broke.
Turns out the ice box just needed defrosting. I saw this as an opportunity to clean out the refrigerator and disinfect it so I grabbed a laundry basket, filled it with all our food things and put the basket on our back porch (dude, it’s colder out there than it is in the fridge…). The maintenance man c
leared out the bits from the freezer and HUH between the ice trays was a slip of paper telling me to look between the FERN and FERN section of the old encyclopedia set my grandparents gave me. WTF?
Long story short: the husband set up a little scavenger hunt for me last night and somehow I managed to get through half the morning without noticing a single one of the twenty-seven slips of paper scattered around the house.
Awww! <3
I CAN’T FIND IT!
I know I have several copies of the Hitchhikers Guide series but all I’ve managed to find are two of the volumes. And those two volumes are not from the beginning of the series.
I’ve given up on the hunt. Having found Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH tucked away into a box in the corner, I believe I shall brew myself a mug of Sweet Dreams tea and curl up around a good night’s read. The galaxy will have to wait for another night.
Just switch the plain whipped cream to chocolate whipped cream and you have yourself Death By Chocolate in a Trifle Bowl.
I’m sooo hungry. *weeps bitterly*
