I can now play oldschool DOS games until my little heart’s content.
Sadly, the Zork trilogy is no longer available as Activision isn’t allowing free distribution anymore. Oh well, there’s always my old friend, Hitchhiker’s Guide.
P.S. If you’ve finished this game (as I did one summer when summer was synonymous to ‘three month period with no pressing obligations’) then here are some really fun things to try.
One of, if not THE, greatest character in the history of Star Trek. EvAR!!
(fun things under the cut)
AAH! These are so cool. Thanks to Davey for the link.
And while I was there I found and developed an impish desire to get one of these little guys. As of yet I don’t know where or when I would use it but I’m sure that, given enough time, I could come up with something sufficiently devious.
I was bored tonight so I sat around the dock and typed in random /<emote> commands to see what there was and what my avatar could do besides nautical acquisition and redistribution.
That is, until I found a semi-complete list. Harr, someone has way more time on their hands than I do.
I then did a bit of digging and found that ttobey is still adding emotes. When are we getting a compiled list, neh?!
After going through every emote I could think of I got the idea to make new captains. Famous captains. Captains like Planet, Caveman, Kangaroo, Crunch, Obvious…
But the captain I really wanted to be was Picard. And wouldn’t you know it? Someone was thinking along the same lines because the name was taken. I tried Kirk but he was taken too. So in a fit of selfishness I grabbed up Sisko and Janeway before they could be claimed.
I got my game. I GOT MY GAME! All right, admittedly I got it earlier in the week and have been playing it whenever I get a chance, but I’m only a level 6 n00blet pirate so it’s still new news.
Here begins the adventures of Captain Jolly Fustercluck and her ship The Barmy Mama. Yes, that’s where I got the idea for the handle. I wanted it to name my ship. I’m at that level of dorkdom.
P.S. I’m on the Guadalupe server if anyone else is playing. We can rape the horses, ride off on the women, and uh, plunder and… prune the hedges… of many small villages.
And still a hopeless Gargoyles fan.
I remember a time where I spent several weeks downloading every single episode off of LimeWire just so I could watch them on my laptop while I was on guard duty. I even got the very first comic in the brand new series while I was still in California. But because the past several months have been, well, busy, I haven’t been on top of my old fandom the way I was.
Today I finally got around to ordering comics #2 - #6.
For the next few days you will be able to find me sitting next to my mail box in heated anticipation.
(*And will be for the next nine months as well as the rest of my life if I can swing it…)
I haven’t received my Pirates of the Burning Sea game as it is on backorder. I KNEW I should have purchased it in the store, but I got a better deal online. Now I’ve missed the first day of the pre-boarding party. BOOOH!
I really shouldn’t feel bad as I think my computer is too ancient (only three years old??) to handle the game right now. Yesterday I bought more memory (1Gig) and installed it after much cursing and swearing. Every time I tried to line the chip up into the slot I started to see double and would miss. I’d have to blink a few times, squint, and try again. Now picture me on all fours on the floor, peering into a dark computer case, with my hiney in the air and I suppose the whole thing probably appeared somewhat comical. Anyone pointing this out to me at the time would have received a boot to the shin, so it’s a good deal I was by my bad self at that moment. I finally got it in and now the computer is blazing fast (WOO!), but I’ve yet to get a graphics card for the old beast. I was tempted to get one yesterday, and my father is most likely sighing with relief that I didn’t. I forgot what kind of card I needed (an 8x AGP), but when I called him to make sure, my phone died. Oh well. I need to quit that need for instant gratification and order it from Newegg as my father and personal computer guru suggested in the first place.
If I order it now, the graphics card will probably arrive when the game does.
OH! I’m going to be a little random here, but you know what is the best feeling in the world?
Finding money that you didn’t know you even had.
I just now found a check that I received in the mail back in November; a refund from the place I was renting a storage unit from. Didn’t know they even SENT me a refund check and wrote it off as a loss for canceling my lease at the beginning of the month. Yeah! So now have extra cash to buy that card with. *glee* ^_^
