Today I signed up for the 3 mile JDRF walk scheduled for this Saturday in Omaha. I really should run it, but I’m allergic to running in public. I break out in an uncomfortable case of embarrassments. Three miles isn’t all that far, and it’s decent exercise. Maybe I will run it. I don’t know. :|

Anyhoo, I’m trying to raise $100 for Type 1 Juvenile Diabetes so GIVE ME YOUR MONIES! Or. Well. Not me. Them. Give them your monies. If you really want to give me money then I won’t stop you.

P.S. Yes that is my real name. Don’t stalk me, plz. Fanx.

100 pushups update

I’ve been taking this kind of slow since I’ve gone completely wimpy over the past year and a half or so, but there has been progress. Not a lot of progress, but a noticeable difference in the max number of pushups I can do. I took the End Of Week 2 test and managed to pull off 17, but it wasn’t easy. That puts me in column one for week three and I can tell already that it’s going to be a total ass-kicker.

To supplement my pushup program I’m also working with Mr. H’s weight set. The man had 60 lbs on it and I had to remove 40 just so I could do curls without tearing my elbow joints out of alignment.  (Originally I had typed “tearing my elbows out of their sockets” but elbows don’t have sockets N’ER!)  Unfortunately for me, elbow pain seems to come along with any upper body strength training program I take up no matter how easy I take it on myself.

P.S. Yes, I’m doing boy pushups. Nyeesh.

100 for the gun show

Since I’m trying to get back into shape and need a decent weight training regime and and AND I’m too lazy to drive all the way to Offutt due to lack of weights around here *gasps and picks the run-on sentence back up* I thought it would be “fun” to join Amy in her quest for 100 pushups.

I’ve just taken the initial test and cranked out 10 pushups, which to me is mildly surprising because I was convinced I’d poop out at 5 or 6. I guess that lifting and hauling The Shake everywhere is helping, even if it’s only a little bit. 10 is all right. It puts me in the level 2 group which means I’ll have to do a set of 7, 7, 5, 4, and then a max set of at least 5 today, Wednesday, and Friday before moving onto the next tier.

I’ll do that later (says Teh Procrastinator) while Shake is snoozing this afternoon.

I wonder if there is a 100 sit-up program.

(Update) It’s almost 4:30 and I finally got around to my first set. Wasn’t expecting Mr. H to ask me to meet him at Carlos O’kelly’s for lunch, and probably should have turned him down since I had stuffed myself on about 4 large bowls of CornPops not even 2 hours before he called. But I went anyway and ordered a salad that I couldn’t even finish half of.

I began the set and did the 7, 7, 5, 4 with no problems. I started with my max set, finished pushup #5, stared at the floor for a couple of beats and managed to force one more out before shaking my head and getting back up again.

After all that, I feel like I should be doing more. I have a tiny 6 lb medicine ball that I use for crunches, so maybe I’ll do something with that.
